“Lake of the Ozarks” and “Sturgis” lead to infections, yet I see little if any reporting showing cases linked to protests. Could be that masks really are the difference maker or it could be reticence about appearing critical of protests. Could be a bit of both. 1/2

Masks and staying outside both seem to help.
Not that I’m planning to attend any protests soon, but still.

So put differently, a 0.06% event infection rate a 0.00025% event fatality rate due to covid. Got it.

we dont know how many. first people said there were only 4 cases. then 15, then 100. Takes time to know how many. Got it.
WA is calling in National Guard to do testing at university. 400 cases reported recently. One city is doing sewage testing (?) local news is reporting.

Wastewater testing works for sites where you have people somewhat clustered, like in a dorm or other type of housing unit. People start shedding the virus before they show any symptoms – so it’s a way of identifying a breakout much earlier, before it spreads widely.

Super spreader event! Look at all the surrounding states numbers. And then the colleges open up. Doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots.

Attendees of Sturgis came from and went back to 61% of all counties in America. My guess is there’s a lot more but hard to trace because of the geographical range they went back to.

So unnecessary—Minnesota biker who attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has died of #covid19 —- the first fatality traced to the 10-day event that drew more than 400,000 to South Dakota. At least 260 cases in 11 states tied directly to Sturgis bike rally. http://washingtonpost.com/health/2020/09/02/sturgis-rally-death-coronavirus/

Im just curious. On top of covid 19, what do you see happening with the Flu season? How will people tell the difference. Will it be mild with less travel and masks or will it be terrible? Got my flu shot already.

In your view as a medical professional would a rapid antigen test with high specificity for asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals have helped prevent and or minimize the spread from this event.
