This is 30-year-old Austin Smith if St. Paul. He is the firefighter who sadly died this morning battling a barn fire. The community says he will always be remembered as a hero. This is a huge loss for this small community.
Officials say he was severely hurt and air-lifted to OHSU, however, he did not survive his injuries.
The fire chief says the community is absolutely heartbroken over this loss, and gave his prayers to the young man’s family as they grieve.
Smith was 30 years old. Katu News Reported.
Community Members took to social media to pay respect to the falling firefighter.
