Dear Pirate Family,

It was with a great sense of loss when we learned of the heartbreaking passing of Altin Nezaj, our Senior Varsity Football player. Later that evening, we also learned of the passing of Saniha Cekic as well as the critical injuries to Aisha Radoncic, also a Senior at Pearl River High School.

Although our hearts are heavy and truly saddened by this tragic event, we bore witness to an amazing community coming together to support one another last night at the candlelight vigil. Family, friends, neighbors and strangers gathered to honor those involved and to remember our lost son, Altin.

We have received many offers of assistance from within our community but also from our surrounding towns. Everyone wants to help in some way and we are so very grateful for that.

So as we move through this most difficult time, let’s stay close to our loved ones, hug our children a little tighter and keep the Nezaj, Cekic, and Radoncic families in our thoughts and prayers.

Altin was taken from us too soon and that will not only leave a void in our lives but in the hearts of all who knew him. He will live on in our memories and we will continue to honor and celebrate him.

Yours in sympathy,

The Board of the Pirates Touchdown Club
