I just heard some sad news that I am hoping is wrong. But Dr. Gregory Areshian, a well known archaeologist of Armenia (with whom I took a great class in nomadic archaeology) has apparently succumbed to Covid-19. Can anyone confirm (or please, contradict)? @medievalqabq

Gregory Areshian was my AUA colleague of two years. It was his team that found the world’s oldest shoe in Areni. Students loved his warmth and passion for archaeology – I know bc they told me. Comments under the tweet here show just how appreciated he was https://t.co/M7RIimFHno
