Bill Bartholomay was a tremendous human being, as down to earth and easy to talk to as anyone I know. He loved baseball and I’m thankful to have known such a great, influential leader. #RIP https://t.co/05cFaCEayb

Longtime Braves chairman Bill Bartholomay passed away yesterday. Bartholomay brought the Braves to Atlanta and then sold the club to Ted Turner. He remained heavily involved with the team over the past few decades. The world lost a great man and baseball lost a great ambassador.

Bill Bartholomay was the greatest owner I ever had the pleasure to play for. He understood the game of baseball more than so many others. I’ve known him for a longtime and he’s helped me in more ways than you can imagine. I will surely miss my friend.

Chicagoan Bill Bartholomay, a fixture in MLB since the 1960s, has died. Sending out best thoughts to his family and friends, including Bud Selig and Jerry Reinsdorf. Selig was livid when he moved Braves to Boston; came to tease him how Milwaukee has outdrawn Atlanta more years:
