Buddy Blaze Death – Obituary News : the hot rod guitar tech of choice in DFW in the 80s has died .
We are sad to report that Buddy Blaze has passed away, according to the following statements posted on social media on August 18. 2021.
The Fret Shack 7h · Just learned of the passing yesterday of a personal influence and role model in metal guitardom … not me as a player but me as a fixer. Buddy Blaze was the hot rod guitar tech of choice in DFW in the 80s, and best known in my trade circles as the mastermind behind the evolution of the “Dean From Hell” ML for a then-young Darrell Abbott. Buddy also conceived Vivian Campbell’s original “Nightswan” superstrat that was eventually made famous by Kramer Guitars. Now Viv and Dime’s matching lightning bolt guitar graphics make sense, huh? Buddy was heavily hands-on with Great White and Twisted Sister, his own Blaze Guitars later in life, and as a tech and friend to countless guitar players in the DFW community. Met him once at a vintage show, super nice guy. Thanks for steering me, Buddy, and best wishes in the next chapter.

Matthew Ryan a friend owned the original for a while in recent times. Here’s some photos from when he had it. Viv apparently fell outta love with the middle pickup and added a single where a pickup “should” have gone in the first place haha.
May be an image of guitar

I’m a big Campbell fan. I remember seeing promo shots of him with that blue polkadot guitar. I wonder if he used it on gigs.

RIP Buddy….. I wanted one of those Nightswan guitars so bad back in the early 90s. They had one hanging on the wall forever at Werleine’s Music on Veterans in Metairie. I used to go in there all the time just to take a peek at it.
