We learned of the deceased through the following tribute posted on social media.,
TW: murder of a group member, spouse arrested
Words seem so inadequate right now. I’m not sure if there is a “right” way to share this type of heartbreaking news. I’m writing this through tears of sadness and anger. One of the active members of this group, Caitlin Conrad Speck, passed away today. Her husband has been arrested and charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and ill-treatment of animals. Her dog Bailey Mae was her world and her “rainbow baby.” Bailey was murdered also. I will post the news article at the end.
Caitlin and I met through my dog tag business last year and we instantly became friends. I was literally working on a dog tag for her to use to announce her family’s plans to move next month when I got the sad news. She was so excited to be moving to a city with an active dog mom community. I’m just at a complete loss right now.
I was informed by a family member through my business page. The family is shocked. It’s hard to process. I don’t want to overwhelm them with strangers from the internet, but I am going to reach out since we were friends and had just messaged each other last night. I will keep you all posted.
Update: I contacted her sister. She is in our group. This was her response: “I don’t honestly know what could be done besides just check in on your friends and family daily. Tell them you love them, constantly. You never know the last times you’ll see them.”
Edit: There is a GoFundMe to help her family with funeral expensehttps://gf.me/u/x7mqnms.

The following are some tributes posted on social media to honor the life and the legacy of the deceased.
I was just informed that one of our very active members, Caitlin Conrad Speck, passed away unexpectedly today. Caitlin was one of my favorite people that I’ve met in this group, always so supportive and kind. I urge everyone to remember that life is short and you never know where it will take you, so always be kind and open with one another. Don’t leave things unsaid or put off adventures.
My heart is absolutely, and unequivocally broken in two tonight, please just hug your family and remind those you love that you care about them.
There is a GoFundMe to help her family with funeral expenses: https://gf.me/u/x7mqnm
Enjoy this picture of her puppy, because I will miss seeing both of them around the group. :c
