northmississippiallstars :Let’s play some funky music for Brother Carl Dufrene Jr on this sad day. Carl was a wonderful friend, family man and musician. Carl would selflessly do anything to keep the mood upbeat, the music funky, and full of fellowship and positive vibes and inspiration.Carl was a great improvisational partner, fearlessly heading down uncharted spontaneous compositions while never losing the groove. We were honored to make music with Carl for years. He always elevated the music. Carl was a national treasure, a true ambassador of Louisiana musicality and hospitality. The Bayou Buddha will be missed by friends the world over but live on in the music and in our hearts.

Forget his talent for a sec….. He was just the nicest, down to earth guy you would ever meet. He was always smiling and gave out the best hugs…. Seen here with our girl who asked Carl Dufrene Jr. if she could join him up on stage to sing a song. You will always be in our hearts Carl! Thank you for touching our souls! RIP

I Got to know Carl Dufrene quite a bit over the last eight years. He was playing with Anders Osborne when Roosterfoot did a few shows with him. Came through the Jewish Mother multiple times with Tab Benoit. Most recently I hung with him at Boathouse Live when he toured as the bass player for North Mississippi All-Stars. Was a really really sweet guy and had a heart of gold. He is going to be missed

I knew Carl for close to 20 years. He was a great guy, a badass musician, and an encouraging spirit. He will be greatly missed down here in NOLA, but even more so down the bayou in Houma.
