Charles Lynn Frost, the Utah actor and LGBT activist known for his “Sister Dottie Dixon” persona, has died, FOX 13 News has learned. Frost’s Dixon was a Latter-day Saint housewife from Spanish Fork — which she pronounced “Spanish Fark” — who had a gay son. Frost created the character with Troy Williams, now director of Equality Utah, to give a satirical spin to the real struggle they saw in Mormon women who had to choose between supporting their LGBTQ children and the teachings of their church, which discourages same-sex relationships.

You were my rock. The person I could talk to about anything. I have laughed with you, cried with you and told you everything I would only entrust to a best friend. You always said I was the real Sister Dottie Dixon. You were so talented, strong, creative, loving. I truly don’t know how to go on without you. But I’ll try my damndest to be the best person possible in your honor. Thank you for being my soul mate.
My friend Charles Lynn has gone on. He was a force. I was privileged to be a friend to Charles, and a friend to Dottie in Troy’s and Charles’s creation The Passion of Sister Dottie S. Dixon. Dartsey sends her love Dottie. I send mine as well.
