Cause of Death.
We have no information at the moment on of caused death . This post will be updated as soon as we have that information.
The following are some tributes posted on social media to honor the life and the legacy of the deceased.
I was stunned and deeply saddened to learn this morning of Chris Dufresne’s passing last night at only 62.
Chris was incredibly talented and a great guy to be around at work, whether that was in a press box at a football game, courtside at the Final Four or, sure, in the occasional hospitality room.
We both were Cal State Fullerton grads, lived in the 909 area code and once covered silly games for a living.
But that’s where we parted company.
Duf did the job at such a ridiculously high level that I was a fan. With apologies to all my other friends who work there or once did, he was my favorite L.A. Times writer since Jim Murray.
Our alma mater has produced a rather impressive group of professional journalists, especially in sports, and Duf’s spot on the Mt. Rushmore for that group was locked up long ago.
More important, by far, was that he was a good person who cared deeply about his family. Journalism’s loss is one thing; theirs is unimaginable.
Chris Dufresne, a respected authority on college sports, had 40-year L.A. Times career.
