When we arrived home from the hospital after giving birth to our Lilly, there was a hot Cahall’s chicken pot pie waiting for us. When we celebrated her first birthday, it was Cahall’s who did the catering. Whenever we were having a get together, their chicken salad, twice-baked potatoes and chocolate peanut butter pie was essential. Whenever Shane was on-air broadcasting and seeking help for a local family or individual in a time of need, Christ was always among the first to reach out and step up.
The many years of sharing his self-deprecating humor when he’d join Shane on the morning show was captivating and endearing. His generosity was boundless and unparalleled. His family sponsored countless radiothons to benefit the babies of St. Jude. He and Dawn were avid supporters of our Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center and together they’ve fed more people than modern math could ever even begin to quantify.
It didn’t matter the need, he just wanted to help. He was simply always helping and always doing his best to bring comfort to others. Just like the food they serve, the Cordon family has always… offered… comfort. We have so many sweet and lasting memories that we will cling to in the days to come.
Meanwhile, we humbly ask that you join us in prayer for strength and peace for his family as their hurting hearts mourn one of the kindest and most benevolent souls Bay County has ever known. Please remember Dawn, their son Dylan, and Christ’s mother Joanne in your hearts. Adding to that, a wonderful way to honor HIS generous heart is by continuing to support Cahall’s, the business that he poured so much love and effort into. It was the vessel by which he supported his beloved family — and our community — time after time. I doubt there are many among you reading this that don’t have a Christ story to share.
One that involves his cheery disposition, his giving nature and his trademark giggle. He was one-of-a-kind and his presence has left an indelible impression in the lives of so many. If only we’d known just a mere few weeks ago when we last were with him that it would be our final encounter this side of Heaven, Shane and I would surely have hugged him tighter and held him longer, but we thank God that we were able to be there to convey our love.
That’s what he did best.
He gave love.
