Today, the sad news came. I was not expecting it but always knew the call would come. I have known Dante Stephenson for the majority of my life. He and my dad started the best jazz club in Atlanta. Dante’s Down the Hatch. Both were icons in the Atlanta Jazz club market. Eccentric and quirky, you had to know Dante to love him. Now he is back with the trio. Fly high Dante! Your work is done here on this earth. RIH

We became friends and he treated me like royality whenever came on board. If only we could have incorporated the Ship into another place…

karen… my husband and I worked at Dantes in the 70s… My son told me he passed away today. I am so so sad to hear this.. I am not seeing any other information. I assumed he would live to be 100 just like his mom.

Dante was great for Atlanta. I miss Mr. Mitchell also. Paul and my Dad were great friends especially on Atlanta’s music scene for decades. All will be sorely missed. RIP.
Sorry to hear this news. Praying for his family. I did have the pleasure of meeting Dante who was very personable and ran a great restaurant…one of my favorites. I remember him well and the great music from the Paul Mitchell Trio. May Mr. Dante Stephenson rest in eternal peace.
My sincerest condolences and prayers for you and his family. They are musical legends especially in Atlanta.
