Sad to hear the news about an old friendDarryl McDaniel
. I knew Darryl since we were little kids running around Cornell hockey games playing around. We were so young then and carefree. Thanks for always reaching out and catching up man. I know we never hung out during our teens or adult lives, but yet, you always would message and catch up. See how every thing was going. We’d talk aspirations and all the good things life offers. You reached out to me when grandpa passed, and I did you years ago when Fred had to leave us. You were always that familiar person to talk to whenever it was necessary. So sorry that you were so young Darryl. Too young. Rest in paradise. Much love to your family during this hard, unbelievable time. You have many family and friends that are going to miss you dearly. You are loved.

The following are some tributes posted on social media to honor the life and the legacy of the deceased.
was somebody I think we all knew for a variety of different reasons. Some people were rubbed the wrong way by him… but if you truly knew Darryl, you knew he was one of the most loving and caring people you could imagine. He was also a protector. He fought for and defended the people he cared about.Almost to a faultI have had so many ups and downs with Darryl. Despite whatever he went through with other members of my family, or close friends; he always kept it between them, and never involved me. In fact, he always tried to help me in whatever way he could. He offered to be my security, He was trying to get me booked at venues in Vegas. He offered to invest thousands of dollars into my career one time, as he did for other people in the community before.
I have countless memories with Darryl, and in reality we weren’t even that close. Just two people with a lot of shared history and a mutual respect for each other. My heart goes out to his family, his loved ones, and to all his friends that are closer than me and him ever were. I know the impact he had on me. I can only imagine what some people are dealing with today. He was truly taken too soon. It’s a shame. Darryl, cheers look down on your peeps and guide them. I know you will
