We learned of the passing of Dr. Andrew Riggs from the following tributes posted on social media.
I am having a hard time putting the words together but here it goes.
This weekend we lost one of the greats. My heart is broken and at times I almost feel numb but I am overcome with emotion and love when I think about all the lives he has touched, personally and professionally. Dr. Andrew Riggs was not only my boss and mentor but my friend. We shared a love of caring for children with diabetes but we also shared a love of Colts football, Carb Day, hot sauce on everything and condiments that were good enough to drink as a beverage. He loved everything Purdue, good music, good martinis, Diet Coke, the split pea soup at St. V and leftovers for days. There are so many things I am going to miss about him but I am so thankful that our paths crossed. The practice he built at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital and the work he put into the Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana is something that will live on forever. Thank you for all you have done for me and for the T1D world…until we meet again Andy…
