Danny Grant: my friend and Fredericton greatest hockey guy ever. I grew up in a small community, and as a little guy, when Danny and Linda and the kids moved to our community outside Fredericton ( Nasonworth) , we had hit the big time, because Danny you know was bigger than life, and when he won Showdown two years in a row, we couldn’t wait to watch and cheer and pray he won, ( he and Linda already new, they could have told us) we had to watch all winter ha.
This is who he was, as a young boy, I have to admit, Bobby Orr was my biggest hero, and Danny knew that, one day Danny stopped and told my mom to get me ready, Richard Brown and I were playing road hockey, ( on gravel) he took us to spend over an hour alone with his buddy Bobby Orr prior to the the FSI dinner ( that is just how long this has been around in one form or another since the 60s), he and Danny enjoyed a couple pops they said while we laughed and talked, I say this because this is who he was. Three weeks ago, we had a huge night planned for Danny, we had to cancel, a tribute and banner raising, he just couldn’t do it, the dreaded disease had struck with vengeance.
Danny was such a mentor for me as we started the Wings, in his Kitchen, he was our Team Ambassador as we named him, and he made calls to the Red Wings, we got our permission to use the name and logo, I could write all day in a tribute to this man, I was in awe every time we talked, and he never ever was not there when I needed Danny for something in hockey or whatever he was a private person, but always was there for us. Linda, Jeff, Kell, and all the family, we all know who you lost, and we send our deepest sympathies, Danny and Buster are back together again. So so sorry for your loss. This loss is felt all over our world.
