Death / Obituaries : Scott Jenkins Mourn Wife Aly Jenkins Who Died During Child Delivery.

Friends and families are paying tributes on social media to Beloved Aly Jenkins of the Jenkings family from Saskatchewan who recently passed away.

Aly Jenkins passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon after experiencing complications during labor and delivery of their new beautiful baby girl, Sydney. Sydney is still in critical condition while being looked after in the NICU. Each hour that passes they are seeing improvements, but the road ahead is unknown and will be challenging.

Aly was a loving mom, wife, daughter, sister, coworker and friend that touched the hearts of everyone she met. According to a statement released by Matthew Kelley who is organizing a fundraiser for the Jenkings Family on GOFUNDME.COM

Tributes.

The following are some tributes posted on social media to honor the life and the legacy of the deceased.

Day 2 baby Sydney update!

October 22nd NICU Rounds
Beginning to wean off of nitric oxide, medication going into her lungs that relax the arteries (this is good!) they’ve also started to decrease the PEEP from her breathing tube (the pressure going into her lungs to keep them open) which means she’s getting better at doing this all on her own instead of needing the machine to do it.

Yesterday Dr Daspal (neonatologist) was a little bit worried about the right side of her heart and how it was filling (possibly a little bit dehydrated) today he sees much improvement and her heart looks normal
She’s retaining a little bit of fluid but is still peeing well.

They may have to give her a medication called Lasix to help her get rid of more fluid as they give it to her. Possibly only a one time dose if at all.

They are going to do a lumbar puncture either today or tomorrow. This is normal protocol for the type of infection Sydney was exposed to in utero. This tests for meningitis (the bad bacteria that gets into the fluid around our spine and brain), the procedure is sterile and requires a small needle that goes into her spinal column to collect fluid and then comes out. This is routine, it sounds scarier then it is. They’re looking for white blood cells and how many there are.

She’s still on antibiotics (ampicillin and cefotaxime) these are high doses until they know more about the meningitis.

They’re giving her small amounts of magnesium and potassium (electrolytes) as these are a little bit low and would like to see them higher on babies being cooled.
Brain activity and sleep cycles are looking normal as per Dr Daspals words in rounds.
So far everything is looking better hour by hour.

The hearts of the Saskatchewan curling community ache as we receive the devastating news this morning 💔.

Our sincere condolences to the Jenkins/Johns family as they announced the passing of Aly Jenkins 😢.

Aly was a notable face in the curling community and will be dearly missed by her children, family, friends & teammates.

Please consider donating to help the family through this difficult time.
