Dennis Thomas Death – Obituary News : Dennis Thomas Kool & The Gang has died .
We are sad to report that Dennis Thomas has passed away, according to the following statements posted on social media on August 7. 2021.
Questlove 1d · Damnit. Such a legend. DT (Dennis Thomas) has left us to go meet his daughter in the next life. It’s absolutely unspoken how his saxophone has breathed life into so many songs in hip hop. Let alone soul/funk/jazz/disco. So sad about this. God bless his family & to the rest of the gang.

We lost a talented musician in one of the greatest soul groups of all time. And his talent carried on with his daughter, who starred on “The Cosby Show” and “Family Matters.” They’re both reunited in heaven and will be missed by all of us.Marcus Shaw wrote
The wonderful God we serve has a tendency to share his Angels with us. For that we are truly grateful. Enjoy your wings my brother.
My band 7th Heaven supported Kool and the gang on the UK and European tour back in the mid-80s. Had a nice chat with DT, backstage, he was a gentleman, articulate, and warm, an amazing musician, and an inspiration to a young Black British black kid. Such sad news to hear of his passing. Rest in glory, Dennis.
One of the coolest dudes I’ve ever watch perform. May he Rest In Peace! Condolences to all his family and Kool and The Gang band mates.
such a sad thing to see. Feel very lucky to have been at the Bowl for their July 4th shows, and the guys all looked happy and energized. Rest, Mr. Thomas.
EWF, Mandrill, Tower of Power, Chicago, and Kool & The Gang Horns, all, equipped me to digest Fela Kuti when I first heard his horn arrangements. He was really the face that comforted Kool and The Gang has hit the stage.
You cant write the history of 80’s music w/out Kool and the Gang. From 1980 to 1985 they were right there with the Police, Lionel Richie and Hall & Oates as the icons of Pop Music. His sax on Joanna will always be my favorite.
If I remember correctly he was also an awesome tennis player who competed on the professional circuit for a little bit. Great talent.
I feel privileged and grateful that I had the pleasure of seeing Kool & the Gang perform live a few times and they always brought it and never disappointed the audience. These musicians were bred from a different cloth. Thank you Dennis Rest Easy.
I’m endlessly thankful for the joy he and The Gang gave to the world. I was a 10 year old kid when I fell in love with their music, Kool & The Gang changed my life for the best.

Years ago I did an interview with D.T. And Kool, it was one of my best interviews and we became friends. I would see them often in Japan and sit in with the guys after shows and watching them improve musically and watch other bands. Always an eye opener to me. Rest In Heaven, Dennis….

May good memories come when you need them most to soothe and comfort your sore hearts. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal but loves leaves a memory no one can steal. Heroes don’t die they simply live on in our hearts. Those we love don’t go away they walk beside us every day unseen unheard but always nearby. Goodbyes hurt the most when the story wasn’t finished. Grief never ends, but it changes, it is not a passage nor a place to stay, grief is not a sign of weakness or a lack of faith it is the price of love. Be the things that you loved the most about the person who passed. Blessed Rest on Angels Wings.
