My condolences to the Ho family. A legend is gone way too soon. Watching him and other legends from Hawaii rip in the surf mags growing up inspired me to want to surf here in our small Florida waves. Wanted to be like him and the others. RIP Derek .

This is so sad. Growing up he was my favorite on tour. He was a goofy foot like me, he was a pipe master, but also I loved his style. He was so light on his feet and so quick.
I was so stocked whe he became a world champion. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayer to the Ho family.
