Larry King @kingsthings Statement from the family of Larry KingJanuary 23, 2021With profound sadness, Ora Media announces the death of our co-founder, host, and friend Larry King, who passed away this morning at age 87 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. For 63 years and across the platforms of radio, television and digital media, Larry’s many thousands of interviews, awards, and global acclaim stand as a testament to his unique and lasting talent as a broadcaster. Additionally, while it was his name appearing in the shows’ titles, Larry always viewed his interview subjects as the true stars of his programs, and himself as merely an unbiased conduit between the guest and audience. Whether he was interviewing a U.S. president, foreign leader, celebrity, scandal-ridden personage, or an everyman, Larry liked to ask short, direct, and uncomplicated questions. He believed concise questions usually provided the best answers, and he was not wrong in that belief.Larry’s interviews from his 25-year run on CNN’s “Larry King Live,” and his Ora Media programs “Larry King Now,” and “Politicking with Larry King” are consistently referenced by media outlets around the world and remain part of the historical record of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.Ora Media sends our condolences to his surviving children Larry, Jr., Chance, Cannon and the entire King family.Funeral arrangements and a memorial service will be announced later in coordination with the King family, who ask for their privacy at this time.
He was absolutely incredible no matter who he was interviewing or what walk of life they were from. He will be truly missed.
I had the gift of being on an interview with him almost three years ago..he was everything that I had thought..so very smart, truly wanting to learn and know more, and such a gentleman..May he rest in peace and joy..he touched our world and made it better..
I only wish the broadcasters of today were more like him. I always respected the fact that he always tried to be unbiased during his interviews. His time slot on CNN has never been the same. Rest In Peace.
Rest In Peace Larry. We’ve lost an icon, his interview technique always seemed to get the very best out of his guests and most importantly he listened with genuine interest in what they had to say without constant interruptions. An amazing talent. My heartfelt thoughts go out to the family in these trying times.

I’m very sad to hear this, very much indeed! As a man 64 years younger than Mr. King, I know that people like him, with his splendid professionalism are irreplaceable in the world of today. My generation, our circumstances cannot produce figures of such calibre anymore.

Baseball lost their #1 fan. Our sons played baseball together and when my son or his son were pitching he would call the game. It was so amazing! He truly loved the game. He was very close to his sons and a great father. His sons lost their best friend and father today. RIP Larry

So sad to hear of the passing of my all-time favorite interviewer. I have greatly missed him since he left CNN. Many of us…..and our current hosts on talk show programs….could gain a lot from him, especially one of his famous quotes about his never learning anything from talking. In memory of Larry, I am going to try to talk less and listen more.
No one can beat him in his talent , exceptionally talented, enthralling interviewer, true king of his profession, Rip, will be missed enormously.
