Condolences – Comments and Reactions.
A great light has gone out in the Pittsburgh Asian community tonight. Dr. Fu was at once generous of heart, mind, and talent. We are so proud of his achievements and contributions to the world of Orthopaedics but even more so for pushing forward the greater understanding that diversity is the way to attract the best talents. When we chose Dr. Fu to be the Grand Marshal of the first Lunar New Year Parade in Pittsburgh in 2016, it was with great intentionality to say to all, the world is that much better for his presence.
Throughout his life and career, Freddie Fu, MD, worked passionately to set the bar higher for UPMC, the University of Pittsburgh, thousands of medical students, surgical residents, and fellows, and tens of thousands of patients who thrived under his care. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his remarkable and inspiring life.
As an orthopaedic surgeon and the founder of the UPMC Sports Medicine program, Dr. Fu was one of the most recognized and beloved physicians in Pittsburgh. We invite you to share a memory of Dr. Fu in the comments.
