Ed Bearss Death – Dead :  Ed Bearss Obituary : Former Chief Historian of the National Park Service Has Died..

Ed Bearss has died, according to a statement posted online on September. 16, 2020.

We learned of the deceased through the following tribute posted on social media.,

We have received word today of the unfortunate passing away of Mr. Ed Bearss. The former Chief Historian of the National Park Service, Ed worked tirelessly to preserve Civil War battlefields, interpret and educate the nation about the events surrounding and occurring during one of this nations darkest hours, and preserve and perpetuate the memory of the service and sacrifices made by our Civil War ancestors. We are keeping his family, friends and loved ones in our prayers during this difficult time.

I walked past Marine Bearss, walking with the 69th PA at the High Water Mark last year. He was standing, leaning on the trunk of car, with a man on each side of him, bracing his arms. That was during Remembrance Weekend 2019, and I guess that might have been his last visit. You could clearly see, that his age was taking hold of him. GOD rest his Soul.
