Ethan Proud Death – Obituary – Cause of Death : Ethan Proud of Downingtown PA has Died .
Ethan Proud have passed away, according to the following statements posted on social media on June 7. 2021.
GP MamaBear 8h · Another boy from our school district, who had a whole lifetime ahead of him, took his own life this morning. This is the second loss in a matter of weeks. In fact, our town held a candlelight vigil last night to memorialize those we’ve lost and to shed light on what’s happening to our children. At fifteen years old, I have to assume that Ethan Proud didn’t see a way out of whatever pain he was dealing with. I don’t know this child, nor his family who are undoubtedly trying to just survive this day from one breath to the next. I don’t know who his friends are, or what he had planned for the summer, or for the rest of his life. I just know that a flame was prematurely extinguished because of pain that likely felt bigger than him and my heart aches for all of those who are grieving. Downingtown Area School District has seen at least one (if not more) suicides each year since at least 2018, and many in our town have learned along the way that suicide clusters can happen — when someone kills themselves, those close to that person, and those who just simply knew them, are more susceptible to having suicidal thoughts. Our children are frankly starting to become numb to the whole thing, almost as though at this point, they should expect to lose a schoolmate or two each year to suicide. Say that again to yourself and just let the gravity of that sink in. THAT is the reality of what our kids are trying to grasp. With the recent passing of West Junior Cos, I for one know that suicide and mental health have been a huge topic in our household, and who knows, maybe it has been in your house as well. I have a daughter who was friendly with him and his loss has affected her deeply…I can physically see her emotionally struggling with it, and when we talk about it, I know she is still trying to make some sense out of it. But how can you reconcile something that has no logic or satisfying resolution? You can’t. If you haven’t talked about suicide with your family, not trying to be preachy but it’s a matter of life or death so just do it. There’s really no right time. Be blunt. Be honest. Be brutal. Be ugly. Be real. Be forgiving. Be patient. Be kind and be loving. Make it as open and forthcoming as you would any other general dinner table topic. Ask your loved ones if they’ve ever felt hopeless or alone or angry or any combination of those things. Below are some symptoms of potential suicide included in a Philadelphia Inquirer article about a father of a Sandy Hook mass shooting victim who ended his own life because he just couldn’t take the pain anymore. Teach your kids about these signs like you talk about what to do if there are signs of a fire (who doesn’t remember ‘Stop, Drop, and Roll’?), or a heart attack (if you have pain in your chest, and your left arm is numb, call for an ambulance–don’t ignore it and wait for it to get worse). The world can be a very rough, painful place. Let’s teach our kids how to navigate through the ebb and flow of life. And, let’s teach them how to have these very real conversations with one another. There is no shame in being honest about how you are feeling. Feelings are in my opinion our main reason for living…we feel everything…in your brain, you are constantly thinking, assessing, deciding how you feel about whatever stimuli is being presented to you and translating that into how it affects you. To have negative feelings is okay, everyone has them and sometimes things can get jumbled. Just like you share good feelings, you need to share the bad because you are human. YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE HUMAN! You owe it to yourself to make mistakes and get past them and live to see another day. Rest in peace and love, Ethan — and I’m sorry for your pain.
