Cause of Death.
We have no information at the moment on of caused death . This post will be updated as soon as we have that information.
The following are some tributes posted on social media to honor the life and the legacy of the deceased.
Stuart Gordon was not only a brilliant filmmaker but an incredibly gracious human. He attended an early screening of A Horrible Way to Die and was quite kind about it, which was the only reason Adam and I had the confidence to try to cast Barbara Crampton in You’re Next. R.I.P.
An enormous talent, vibrant & boundary breaking, his work was in a class by itself. He created countless moments on film which were at once, funny, scary, daring & smart. He gave me my career. I lost a dear friend. I’m heartbroken. No words can do him justice. RIP Stuart Gordon
Everyone should have seen Re-Animator and From Beyond by now, but Stuart Gordon’s Stuck, King of the Ants, and the David Mamet adaptation Edmond are underseen and he also co-wrote The Dentist, a crazy movie about a lunatic dentist that tortures patients and hallucinates a lot.

Stuart Gordon could do justice to both Lovecraft and Mamet. That is what is known as “range”.

Another one of the great elder gods left us today, Stuart Gordon. He pulled off not one, but two, but THREE masterful adaptations of H.P Lovecraft‘s work, and immortalized himself in the drama genre with Edmond and King Of The Ants. Rest easy, Stuart. See you in the great beyond.
Stuart Gordon was a saint of a dude, always happy to give advice and support – and who else can you think of that could effortlessly jump between Mamet and H.P. Lovecraft adaptations?
Stuart Gordon directed some of the greatest horror films ever made, including Re-Animator and From Beyond. I’m very sad to hear of his passing, but I know his memory will live on through the amazing stories he created. Rest in peace.
I was lucky and met Stuart Gordon once. He was really nice. And he made some movies and shows I love including RE-ANIMATOR, FROM BEYOND, STUCK and the Masters of Horror episode THE BLACK CAT. Thank you for your work and being friendly in-person with fans. RIP.
It’s been a hard week, and losing the mighty STUART GORDON only makes it worse. A legend with a deep filmography. No one did gross with more class. I’m gutted.
Stuart Gordon gave us so much: Herbert West, Crawford Tillinghast, Robot Jox, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. What an amazing career/mind. Thank you, sir and RIP.

Apparently director of Re-Animator and Masters of Horror TV series Stuart Gordon passed away yesterday. He was 72. R.I.P.
Dear Friends Everyone in our Full Moon family is deeply saddened by the passing of Stuart Gordon. Our history with Stuart goes back over 35 years, when he and Brian Yuzna came into the Empire Entertainment office and found a home for RE-ANIMATOR. – Cont.
Holy shit, no!! RIP Stuart Gordon, one of my favorite American horror filmmakers, and an incredibly generous interview (I don’t think I published our RE-ANIMATOR-centric interview…). Almost no duds in his rich filmography (maybe PIT AND THE PENDULUM, but that’s it).

Stuart Gordon and his films mean the world to me, Re-Animator itself was my introduction to both Jeffrey Combs & Barbara Crampton but Also the joys that made horror my favorite genre! I’ve never seen any other films like his and I’m glad he lived a long fulfilling life, RIP
Fun fact for those who never got a chance to see it: at this point in the musical which #StuartGordon brought to LA, the intestine is pointed at the audience and unleashes a torrent of blood. Wife and I still have our “bloodstained” shirts#StuartGordonTribute #ReAnimator
Oh, no. #RIP Stuart Gordon. An absolute giant of indie horror. Much like Romero, he blazed his own trail in genre filmmaking, never giving an inch when it came to his unique vision. Few directors had as epic a run of great movies from start to finish.
Rest In Peace Stuart Gordon. You were responsible for some of my favorite films and the world is less bright without you in it. 2020: Enough already!
I’m very sorry to hear about Stuart Gordon’s passing. “Dagon” was his first movie that I saw, and I remember instantly restarting it as soon as it was finished because it was such a mindfuck. And “Re-Animator” is by far the best movie in the decapitated fellatio sub-genre.

Stuart Gordon was a talented director an a very kind man. Rest in peace, Stuart. We’ll miss you.
Very sad to hear that Stuart Gordon has passed. A true original, and a gift to the genre. I remember being absolutely terrified of the FROM BEYOND box cover at the video store when I was a kid… and then delighted years later when I finally saw the movie itself. Rest In Peace.
