Richard Marles MP 22h · VALE FRANK COSTA Today Geelong lost its leading citizen. It is impossible to conceive of Geelong without Frank Costa. There are heavy hearts across our city. Frank Costa was a giant. His stature was built on the strength of his values. His generosity of spirit was profound. His honesty was total. And he knew what was really important in life; faith, family and friends. Frank’s saving of the Geelong Football Club and taking it to the powerhouse that it is today is the stuff of legend. But his contribution to our city and our nation goes far beyond that. Right across Geelong the enormous benefits of his philanthropy and commitment to his community are clear and will serve his legacy. The business that he built from a single fruit and veg shop to one of Australia’s most important companies is a staggering achievement. Yet throughout his life, Frank’s greatest pride was his family. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had Frank Costa as a friend and to have enjoyed his steadfast personal support. I will miss him terribly. In Geelong today, there are many of us who seek to live by a creed of humble excellence. Frank taught us that. My thoughts today are with Shirley and the entirety of Frank’s family. Vale Frank Costa. 646646 55 Comments 61 Shares Like Comment Share
A beautiful and heartfelt tribute to Geelong’s own Frank Costa. A remarkable man – a description he would gently dismiss. As a humble, caring member of the Geelong community throughout his lifetime.
