I am saddened to hear the news that our old friend Fritz McIntyre has passed away. My earliest memory of Simply Red was listening to the band perform Holding Back the Years on Granada Reports and two things hit me, Mick’s voice and Fritz’s piano playing. I asked him exactly how he voiced those chords the way he did and I’m thankful that he was kind enough to show me. We toured together for almost ten years and had far more fun than we ought to and even though we lost touch when he moved to Canada, I always thought I’d see him again. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. RIP Fritz Gerald McIntyre.

So sorry for the loss of your friend and former band mate. Fritz was a ferocious talent and a hero of mine. I learned so much from his licks on the SR albums, but I still don’t have his touch!Dennis Millward
Very sad news – and on the same day we heard that Charlie Watts had passed away.
Fritz was a great asset to Simply Red. I particularly like his solo on ‘Enough’ (and yours, too). R.I.P. Fritz.
