Prolific Houston builder Gerald Hines dies at 95. His company had a hand in numerous SF highrises, including Salesforce Tower, 101 Cal, 560 Mission St. and the upcoming Parcel F, according to a statement posted online on Aug. 24, 2020 by the Houston Chronicles
Who is Gerald Hines ?
Gerald D. Hines was an American real estate developer based in Houston. He was the founder and chairman of Hines, a privately-held real estate firm with its headquarters located in that city. At the time of his death, the company had assets in 25 countries. According to his profile on Wikipedia.
In the early 1960’s Hines signed a 99 year Ground Lease with R.E. and Vivian Leatherberry Smith For a large portion of their cattle ranch at what is now The Galleria. Westheimer was two lanes. Where the Hotel Derek is now was little league baseball fields. Tanglewood was about as far west as development had gone.
