Rest In Peace Denny O’Neil. This is the man that brought DC comics writing out of its golden/silver age infancy. He championed social causes and put them in his Comics. He reinvented Batman with Neal Adams after the high camp of the tv series. I can’t praise him enough. pic.twitter.com/isgjmUmlIx

Another Legend has passed.
Condolences to Denny O'Neil's family.
He wrote Kryptonite Nevermore, one of my favorite Superman arcs.
He also wrote The Question, a formative book for me in my adolescence. pic.twitter.com/qhEa41Bh2o

Denny O’Neil wrote for this iconic part of Black Canary comics history. Denny’s given us the Dinah and Ollie romanctic relationship as well as the “pretty bird” pet name.

Denny O’Neil was ahead of his time, a writer dedicated to a vision of justice we are still striving to achieve today.
Thanks for the stories that inspired a young man to fight. You will be dearly missed, but the fight continues. pic.twitter.com/Mw7a9DBYZL

Denny O’Neil, RIP. His Batman & Green Lantern/Green Arrow runs were iconic (not to mention Superman vs Muhammad Ali), but maybe the most influential on me was the post-Crisis version of The Question he did with Denys Cowan.

Denny O'Neil named Optimus Prime. He edited Miller on Daredevil, he shaped Iron Man in the 80s, but most of all he defined how we all see and know Batman. There are very, very few writers who've had as long lasting an effect on my life. Very, very sad news.

Without Denny O'Neil, we don't have Ra's al Ghul. Two Face is a relic of the Golden Age instead of a mainstay in the Rogues gallery. Joker is a prankster instead of a homicidal maniac. Bruce's loss was a footnote instead of a present trauma and driving force.
He'll be missed. pic.twitter.com/lMMpolF84N

Just read Denny O'Neil died yesterday. Hugely influential comics & tv writer who, with Neal Adams, reinvented Batman & Green Arrow in the 70s and introduced "woke" themes nearly 50 years ago. pic.twitter.com/v8U54e4mtD

Denny O'Neil's Green Lantern/Green Arrow run tackled issues of police brutality, racism, drug abuse, and other social issues that were considered taboo in the mainstream comics of the 70s. Stories that remain relevant TO THIS DAY.

Some people credit Miller for creating the modern Batman we see today but it really was Denny O’Neil in the 70s. He introduced more dark and elaborate stores for the Dark Knight but still had the eccentricities and fun that only comic books can deliver.

If you’ve never listened to @ThatKevinSmith’s great 3 part interview with Denny O’Neil now is the time to do it. If you’re a Batman fan or fan of comics in general it’s worth the Stitcher premium subscription to pull it from the archives. Episodes 60-62 from 2014. RIP Denny. pic.twitter.com/u9jyn8QasW
