RIP Leo Vela, you were THE VOICE, a true master at your craft and DJ extraordinaire. You were a very good friend of Ray Martinez, I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend babe. He would often mention you and play your music when he was on the air and would call you afterwards and was so happy about our relationship. I unfortunately was not even close to the friendship you both shared but he was always very gracious whenever I ran into him. The picture below was one of those times at a Halloween bash with my dear friend Ana Alonso, organized by Maria C. Ruiz, and also Albertico Rodriguez and Leo, some years back. Leo you have been sorely missed since you were unable to continue mesmerizing with your voice, over the airwaves. There must be great music being played in Heaven. 1717 7 Comments Like Comment Share

Heartbroken to see this sad news. I loved working with you and Leo at Disco 96 and will always cherish our fantastic time on and off the air together. So grateful to you Frank for taking care of our brother Leo in his hour of need. Sending my deepest sympathy to you, your family, his family, the entire radio family and all of Leo’s fans. This one hurts. He was living with me 2 years ago when he started getting sick. Always with a smile , always asking me “how are you doing today little brother”. Horrible news. Going to have a nice glass of wine and a fatty for you leo. Legends never die.
RIP Leo , as someone said a man with a huge hearth , we spent good and bad times but he was always joking and laughing. Thanks Funk E Frank Walsh for all , for taking care of him as a brother .
We will miss you Leito
