This is such tragic news. I rode and raced with Mark in LA and he was just a super dude. We have lost a positive and joyful presence in our cycling world. We will miss him. All tailwinds, Mark!

Mark passed me on a ride earlier this summer like I was standing still. He smiled and shouted some words of encouragement. I sure did enjoy riding/racing with him from time to time and will remember him fondly.

The SBT GRVL family is strong, compassionate and benevolent. The sport of cycling is better for the vision Mark, Amy and Ken had to build this brand and hold an event that brought so many wonderful people together. Susie Bockard and I send our deepest condolences and thoughts for the Satkiewicz family. Thanks for pushing me on more than one occasion Mark…you made many stronger.

I had the fortune of riding with Mark, Amy and Ken well before SBTGRVL was first announced, and quickly learned of Mark’s all-inclusive vision for the race and community involvement. Complementing that was his overwhelming passion for this genre of the sport. He became a close mate with whom I spoke with regularly on the phone, even if to just shoot the $hit. Mark, you will be sorely missed by all of us on the gravelly roads less traveled.
RIP mate, Jayson aka JOM

I knew Mark in college. He was always super smart and ahead of the game. Not a surprise to me at all that he was so successful in all aspects of life. Got to take a couple of snowboard trips with him then lost touch till last year. Convinced me to really stretch myself and sign up for the SBT GRVL Black Course. He we as at the finish line to congratulate me. Really made all that hard work worth it. Thanks Mark! Ride In Peace.
