Marti Schimmel Athens GA has died, according to a statement posted online on April. 2, 2020.
Edit: I will leave this post up for a few days. If you have nothing against it, I will print out your condolences and give the printout to the restaurant next time I order.
Marti Schimmel, owner at Marti’s at Midday in Normaltown, has died by suicide. *EDIT: Thanks to a mental health provider in this group, I learned that saying “committed suicide” is insensitive. “died by suicide” is more accurate and more kind. So I changed my phrase.*
If one person wants to make a mean comment, I will lock down this post and ask an admin to kick you out of this group!
My personal reaction 1) I will visit there next time when I place a take-out order, to show support for the employees 2) I will tip like crazy with any future take-outs at this restaurant or other restaurants 3) I will support locally-owned restaurants not chains.
