I met Michael Brooks years ago when a friend of a friend put us in touch. He wanted to get a drink and pick my brain about media and he was so obviously brilliant and thoughtful and funny and wise in that one convo I remember saying, “You’re gonna be fine.” RIP.

Michael Brooks was by far the funniest guy on Leftist YouTube. Here’s Michael doing his Obama impression, framed in the way that Fox News losers see Obama. Comedy gold. I miss you, king. Rest in power.

Shocked at the tragic news about Michael Brooks. He was such a thoughtful, kind, and caring voice who lived his values and used his platform to push for a better world.

I am heartbroken about the news of @_michaelbrooks passing. He was such a genuine person, driven into politics to do good for people and tell the truth – two things in such short supply in our politics. I can’t believe it frankly. Sending love to all who loved and admired him.

michael brooks stood out from other prominent american leftists to me because of his passion for the global south, its people and how/why they’ve been exploited by the west for so long. it was important work and it’s heartbreaking not having his voice anymore. rip king.

Everyone knows how smart Michael Brooks was. How funny and invested and in love with his work. But he was utterly kind too. Decent beyond words. He understood what true camaraderie was. To fight and to love and to live. I have lost a comrade and a friend. I am devastated.
