Selma??? You were such an amazing and light-filled presence in our lives when my husband and I were struggling with getting our own son into a school that best fit his specific needs. He is thriving now and we have you to thank for it. I had no idea about your son — thank you for sharing your experience. It doesn’t surprise me that Michael was such a loving and caring person — the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I’m so sorry for your loss but grateful that you are honoring his memory by supporting our community. Sending love.
I lost my son in December to suicide. Also very sensitive and wanted to help people. I send love to you and your entire family. You raised a radiant soul.
As a mother of a 19 yr old with bipolar 1 I felt everything you spoke. Thank you for sharing him with us; sharing his power, beauty, brilliance and love. Our kids with it are incredible and yet life can be so hard for them. What amazing young man and what an incredible mother. So much love to you .
What a beautiful tribute. I lost a dear friend to bipolar depression years ago. It’s such a devastating disease, filled with so much brilliance along with the unspeakable pain.Alisa Judovits Guys wrote
I am so sorry for your loss. Mike sounds like such a beautiful soul. It is so difficult for deeply empathetic people to exist in such a harsh world. This brings to mind one of my favorite quotes from J. Krishnamurti. “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”

He was different in the most profound of ways. He saw well beyond his years – and his demonstrations of empathy and compassion are beautiful! What a special soul, your Michael! You honor what he started!

Mike is certainly guiding you. He and his story sound so similar to Tommy Raskin, son of Rep. Jamie Raskin: they both had so much love and compassion this world couldn’t contain it. There is a Tommy Raskin Memorial Fund for People and Animals, I wonder if you could apply for a grant?
Thank you for doing this amazing and generous work. Much love to you and all who miss Mike.
Such a rare, sensitive soul So sorry for your loss. Your actions will carry on his legacy and inspire so many of us to make things easier for our fellow humans and be more empathetic.
Your son was beautiful, inside and out. Kindness never fails, even in great sorrow. Peace, health and love to you and your family.Stefany Elayne Steinman wrote

He had the rare ability to see what others easily miss. He had the even rarer gift that he cared so much about what he saw and was compelled to help So sorry for the loss of your beautiful son. He would undoubtably be so proud of you for carrying on with his vision of how the world should be better.

Some souls are born to care in this world and it can be too much. I’m sorry for your loss and our loss, because caring souls are so rare but when they are here, they help us all see the need in our communities. May his memory be a blessing and a movement.
When you speak to someone as you have and I have who loves the people in the world so much it leaves you with a feeling of hope and hopelessness due to their illness. Some days the dark feeling they have can’t be escaped and those that love them are left feeling as though there is no hope and no way to help. I am so, so sorry and so very proud of you for making a difference in his memory.
This fridge is in my neighborhood. I’ve dropped off some donations at it but I had no idea about this backstory. It’s a beautiful tribute and I’ll continue to support it.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your beautiful and kind son. Love that he is living on through your memories and actions. Our world needs more love.Lori Campbell wrote
I know for myself that living with bipolar is so hard. Much love to you and everyone else from his life. What you do in his memory is beautiful. I know it won’t sound like much coming from a stranger, but it means everything.
Thank you so much for sharing Michael’s story. What a beautiful soul. He would be SO proud of you and the work you are doing!
