after tweeting that I had an extra spot in my hotel room for anyone going to the sugar bowl a few years back. Oscar took me up on it. We had a fantastic time. He even returned the favor when I needed somewhere to crash in ATL.
Just learned of Oscar Pope’s passing. Met him in ATL last year. Was so proud to know he was a fellow Ole Miss alum and a critical part of the @NBAonTNT family. Most importantly he was a great guy who was always there when I needed some guidance or advice. Rest easy bro.
Last year, a mom wrote the show to ask if we could email her a meme we’d made for @NBAonTNT cuz her son loved the joke. Oscar Pope got the artwork & had a life size version printed & sent to the family. They were thrilled. That’s was Oscar: a true gentleman. Rest well, my friend.

Hard to think of someone more beloved at Turner Sports than Oscar Pope. He had a confident humility about him. Always kind. Always thoughtful. He simultaneously lit you up and calmed you down. He had such pride for our company. It made me proud too…

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from losing a close friend is that life is short and live it to the fullest. @oscar_pope always made the best of every moment and truly cared about people. He was the person this world needed but life had other plans. Still can’t get over it.
