Just lost for words here at work today amongst the tears. My lifelong great buddy since Higher Levels softball days, classmates at our Br. Rice High School days and Tely co-workers for the past 34 years, Robin Short, has passed. You fought the good fight Robin, but that friggin’ cancer got the best of you. You put up a valiant effort in your battle big guy. Sure did enjoy the great get-together with your special co-worker friends at your house on that Saturday night in July and reminiscing on our Tely years with many’s a great laugh we all had. It just won’t be the same anymore looking at your desk next to mine and knowing you not being there and telling me to “ turn down my radio a bit Joe” while enjoying the music of VOWR or Open Line on VO as you were about to do a phone interview. Both yourself Robin, and our other co-worker Sam McNeish, whom we lost to cancer in June, now gone to your Eternal Rewards together. God Speed to your beautiful lovely wife Kim, who you met at The Tely all those years ago and your fine son Cameron, now in university, and your wonderful mother Mary Short. I’m sure now you and Sam will be up there enjoying a few cold ones and a fine darn sports chat. Until we meet again my good friend, Rest Easy now Robin. Your hard fought battle is over now. You gave it your best. Cheers buddy, Joe.

He was indeed a cornerstone for our community sports over the years
Condolences to the families
This is pretty rough. Robin was one of the good ones, for sure! Glad we got to have dinner and a few bevies when he was in Ottawa a couple of years back for the Olympic trials. Biggest hugs to you, Joe, and the whole Tely family. He’ll be missed.

Kim, My deepest condolences to you and Cameron. Robin was a great man. No matter how much time had passed between our chance encounters. He always greeted me with, “Hey, Wally!” And we would have a grand ole chat. He was truly a real “salt of the earth” kind of guy. God bless you all during this difficult time.
