Mississippi authorities are on a manhunt for a suspect who fatally shot a sheriff’s deputy after grabbing the cop’s gun while he was taken into custody.
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet that Joaquin Steven Blackwell, 22, of Magee, Mississippi, is ‘armed and dangerous’ after having fatally shot a Simpson County Deputy Friday afternoon in Mendenhall, Mississippi. According to by DAILY MAIL

It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of Simpson County Sheriff’s Office (Mississippi) Deputy Sheriff James Blair who was shot and killed yesterday while transporting a subject from an involuntary psychiatric evaluation at a mental health facility at 3087 Mississippi 13 in Mendenhall.
The evaluation had just completed, and Deputy Blair was placing the man back into the patrol car when he was attacked. The subject was able to gain control of Deputy Blair’s service weapon and fatally shot him before fleeing on foot.
A massive manhunt was conducted and the suspect was apprehended today.
Deputy Blair was 77 years old and had served in law enforcement for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife and grandsons, whom they are raising. He was predeceased by his daughter. RIP Hero, we have the watch from here. 💙
