Frances Tarlton “Sissy” Farenthold, the 13th president of Wells College, passed away on Sept. 26 in Houston just six days shy of her 95th birthday. President Farenthold — seen here with son George Farenthold II and his wife, former president Lisa Marsh Ryerson ’81 — leaves an enormous legacy to Wells. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire community, I send my deepest sympathies to George and Lisa and their family as we remember a woman who was a trailblazer, an innovator, and an inspiration to women around the world,” said current president Jonathan Gibralter.
