Tributes.

The following are some tributes posted on social media to honor the life and the legacy of the deceased.

This breaks my heart. Stanley was a student of mine way back when I was just a TA at UConn. He was a sweet kid – no ego even though he could have had a big one.
I remember him squeezing into the tiny desks – he towered over me. To be honest, he was not a great student, but I don’t know he could have been.
Their schedule was beyond demanding and he was a young player on a team at their peak. He tried as much as he cared to – basketball was obviously his life and that let him down over and over again. He had more struggles than any 19 year old should have had. Rest In Peace Stanley.
This is so sad. Thank you for addressing the struggle our young athletes face at colleges and universities across the country. Scholarships and opportunities to play add a great deal of pressure to our young adults’ lives.
I saw it first hand with my nephew. They are pushed to perform at ridiculous levels so that they can bring in more money for the school. Some can compete, but most are challenged by the athletic competitiveness, social life and the academic expectations. Too much for young people whose brains haven’t completely formed.
