Reacting to the news of Erin Reis wrote : This is so sad. Thank you for your incredible work and dedication to the arts. Sending my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to Julie, Emma and his family.

Kaitlin Hopkins said : Today one of the people I love most in the world passed away. I feel like part of me just broke in two. I have dreaded this day and prayed somehow with Tony’s childlike wonder always full of pixie dust and magic he would manage to just live forever.

Tony Walton was like a father to me, I have known him since I was 4 years old. He was one of our industry’s greatest artists with Oscar, Emmy and Tony Awards to his name. I think he had upwards of 16 total Tony nominations in his career that spanned decades but for anyone who knew him, it was his heart that healed and held us all.

His laugh, that smile, his hugs. He and Gen were always there for me, the birthday text never failed to appear with “squishes and hugs by the hundreds” to his katiepops. Tony will be the only human to get away with calling me Katie or Katiepops.

He made anyone he met feel like they were the most treasured person in the world to him. So many memories that I will hold tight… favorites were times sitting in their kitchen eating one of Gen’s famous salads and getting a hug from Tony. I am not sure how to process this loss because it just hurts too much. Gen LeRoy-Walton I love you, I’m so so sorry. I hope to hug you soon.

Anne Vrana Zeigler : So terribly sorry to hear this. My thoughts and condolences are with Julie and Emma as well as the rest of the family. I know how close Julie and Tony remained. RIP Tony.

Melvis EP : My heart felt condolences to Julie, Emma’ family and Walton’s family. May God console you all deeply and may he give you the strength to carry on through this period and after. I’m deeply sorry for your loss. RIP Walton

Kindred Zuckschwerdt : How very sad to hear this news. He was extremely talented and though it is a loss for all of us in theatre, blessed to have had seen his talent throughout the years. ALL our sincere love and condolences to Julie and the entire family. We are praying for you. May he rest in paradise.
