I just saw my guy right before Covid. We both were getting pizza in Adams Morgan and he was like ” I see you trying to do comedy. good job you were always funny”. I hadn’t seen him in person for at least Five years. But yet he had seen my stuff on Social Media and used to like and comment. Always being supportive. This was one of the coolest dudes I know. I don’t know what happened yet, but… Even when I didn’t see you in person, we definitely could and would always chat on Facebook. Man, you were always there for me when I needed a friend even when I was stubbornly acting like I was ok. You always offered to help me no matter what the situation was.

You checked on me to the point where I was like “you need to chill I’m good!” But that’s just to show how much you cared about the people you cared about and loved….

I dragged my feet too damn long and procrastinated trying to hanging out. Trace replied “So when is that gonna be huh?” And I was like SOON I PROMISE… I wish I knew.

My last memory with you is the best I have. Saturday night/Sunday morning we spoke on the phone for FOUR HOURS and it was just as good as being in the same room.

We cracked each other up and talked about hanging out again soon (Rona be damned), and even had some serious conversation about racism and privilege and justice…

One of the last things we talked about is how friends are family who we choose and Trace said “You’re like a brother and I love you just like one.” And he really did care about his friends like we were family.

So Rest In Peace Brother. When I get where you are, we are gonna find the good Chinese food spot and you’re gonna finally play guitar for me again .

Why do I have to keep making these posts… I’m barely over the loss of one close friend and now I’m forced to say goodbye to another…
